This was a wonderful place, in a beautiful setting. It is situated on the side of a valley on a road to Gernika-Lumo, the road to the house is quite steep for a short section through some woods. The Basque region is a truly stunning place, and this house is typical of the area. We were the only people there (5 + hound) during our two night stay mid-April, and the house did feel a little large, however the bedrooms were very cosy. There is a big sitting area (quite spooky when walking through in the evening!) on the same level as the bedrooms, along with a small amount of keep fit equipment! The bedrooms are as mentioned very cosy (some with balconies), and everything was neat and fairly new. Downstairs there is a large dining room where breakfast is served, along with another sitting room, fully equipped kitchen and additional dining are. All the facilities are there if you wished to cook. Outside is a nice lawned area, and small play area including a trampoline. There are electricity pylons to the side of the house, and you can hear the electric running through them at times, I can't say that this was an issue at all though.
The owners live in a separate part of the house, and we hardly ever saw them, however they were very pleasant and made us feel at home upon our arrival.
Breakfast is optional at €5 which we took both days. I thought it good value for money with fresh bread to toast, fresh cake, fresh fruit and most importantly and worth the €5 on it's own was home-made Tortilla which was amazing! As mentioned there is a very nice eating area and kitchen should you wish to cook yourself. There isn't anywhere within walking distance to eat, but Gernika-lumo is about 5 minutes away by car and has a selection of places to eat.
We would definitely go back, and the house is ideally situated for exploring the beautiful Basque region. Close by is Mundaka (famed for it's epic surf), Getaria a beautiful fishing town and also nearby is Elantxobe which we stumbled upon.
